Each Tipper Truck takes Twenty-Five tons at a Time

film, 10’43’’

Francis Barneto is an agriculturalist and a collector of bottles, bikes and ‘all other collectables’. In 2008 he leased two thirds of his farm to the Timblo mining company with the condition that they return the land to its original state after extraction. Following a statewide ban on iron ore mining in 2012, the open mining pit at his farm was abandoned. Although Francis lost a large portion of his land to mining, he believes that mineral extraction is unavoidable, and that it can be done responsibly.
